MCT-SPU
Moving Coil Transformer for low impedance cartridges

We looked for long time for a moving coil transformer with these musical qualities for low impedance MC cartridges. The MCT-SPU rapport with pick-ups, which require a input impedance of 3-10 ohms. The MCT-SPU is a MC transformer from the classical analog era. Originally this transformer for the studio technology was manufactured by Telefunken. Now, after approx. 40 years production break, he is produced again exclusively for us. The MCT-SPU offers the optimal combination to a Ortofon SPU. In addition, other MC systems of Ortofon, Koetsu, Ikeda, Fidelity Research sounds outstanding with this transformer. The sound of the MCT-SPU is musical and powerful with some atmosphere.

Wolfgang Vogel about MCT-SPU (unofficial translation):
... More does not have to be it from musical view – under the MC-transformers, which I know, the few, which can do a little bit more, are out of production or substantially more expensive. Who is interested to explore the musical essence of its black vinyl with a Ortofon SPU/MC-transformer/phono stage with moving magnet combination can close the topic with the acquisition of a MCT SPU. Here the “sound conception” standing behind the MCT-SPU complements itself almost perfectly with that of the SPU. Perhaps the all-last pressure and finest nuances are missing. Who cares? The Ortofon SPU is not a cartridge for nitpickers, no role plays. I have anyhow much joy when music hearing with this “small MC-transformer”. And the „small case“ will not even be noticeable your “better half” with skillful placing…

Thus Roland Kraft judges the MCT-SPU (unofficial translation):
...It retains spatial coherences and pictures practically completely and reveals themselves beyond that as throughout play-joyfully and dynamically… The clear and open sound of the new old design strikes many of its competitors above all upward around lengths. In the bass the MCT-SPU with swinging joy and precision pleases, otherwise this MC-transformer ranks completely clearly among few the extremely transparent, pleasing discoloration-free exemplars its becoming extinct kind…
