...The instructions were first class… (T. Hind, United Kingdom)
Product(s): Kokomo Kit 401
Hi There, Its been several weeks since I recieved and fitted your 401 Komoko kit and I would like to just report my very positive experiences with it! On first examination the brass machining looked very nicely engineered, the oil well bath particularly, simple idea but very well executed. The bottle of oil looks enough for regular top ups for the next 20 or so years…
The instructions were first class, even encorporating some humour!! No, I didn’t put the old thrust plate down the latrine!! The kit was fitted and up and running in a matter of minutes. Soundwise a very significant improvement – much clearer midband and tightened, deeper bass. More importantly for me the chronic speed wavering problem of my original was completely banished, and as a further minor point, the oil patch under the bearing housing is no more! So all in all I’m delighted with this! Plus your very friendly communication and good service, so a big “thank you” and best wishes.
...improvements in sound… (P. Bortolini, Italy)
Product(s): All SME Tweaks, Pure Silver Hair Wire incl. Service (SME 3009-S2)
I received 1 week ago my SME 3009 S2 completely modified by A.T.A. It looks nice, cleaned and polished and the contrast with the bronze base and knife edge bearing make them a great arm to fit on the Michel gyro se and sumiko blue point special: the improvements in sound are consistent: more depth, better focusing, larger scene and extension is what you feel at first then you…listen to the magic of black discs. Service is super O.K. and it’s a pleasure to speak with Robert. Thank you very much!
...Music is sounding more “solid” and relaxed… (B. Lewis, United Kingdom)
Product(s): Kokomo Kit 401
The kit arrived safely and I fitted it to my 401 over the weekend. Very easy even for a diy novice like me ! I didn`t do a complete oil change and just topped up the existing level with the new oil that you included – perhaps I should do that again to get the full benefit ? Anyway first thing I`ve noticed is that the speed is much more stable and not drifting as it did before. 33rpm is now holding steady at the central adjustor point. Music is sounding more “solid” and relaxed with great detail and negligable surface noise. This has been a worthwhile upgrade. Congratulations on an excellent product.
...Kokomo is genius… (J. Noble, South Africa)
Product(s): Kokomo Kit 301 on a Garrard 301 grease bearing
Yea the Kokomo is GREAT …. It makes an OBVIOUS improvement to highs … which are more extended … I was hearing a new release of VIBRANCY, ENERY and NUANCE in the highs … upper freq tones are now more vivid, and came alive … the flute was flowing out from the speakers last night, with more air and articulation than ever before … and on Michael Hedges ‘Arial Boundaries’ (do you know this great album?) snapped guitars sting had more precision, and fluidity, and I was hearing deeper into this ambient recording, also subtle percussive effects were clearer in terms of start-stop resolution, and articulation … so I have to conclude that the Kokomo bearing not only allows for more vibrant energy on top, but ALSO improves timing, and micro dynamic effects as well. Through time I have realised that tonal effects, which are to do with balance across all frequencies, are one thing (lets say a vertical thing) …. Whilst, timing and dynamic resolution is another, because dynamic resolution is in the millisecond region where note attack, development, ringing and decay takes place (lets say a horizontal thing) … music is both vertical + horizontal … BUT in audio technology, what works in terms of tone hardly ever works in terms of tempo and time …. these two are almost like opposites … and one is nearly always juggling between. If you make a change where BOTH improve together … then this is cause for CELEBRATION … because you just got something seriously RIGHT!!! Kokomo is genius … because it improves on both fronts, in equal measure … without any draw back, from what I can tell. Robert … thanks for a brilliant product … at a brilliant price …
